The "9th Gate" greets its imbiber with earthy undertones on the nose amidst a faint smoky essence backed firmly by an aroma of roasted chestnut and soft leather. At first glance one can see a deep reddish brown center fading to a delicate clear auburn hue at the edge of the glass. The subtle nuttiness continues on the palate with a faint suggestion of peanut shell and almond essence that balances nicely with a kiss of bitterness delivered by the Willamette hops.
