40 MileThree Notch'd
Charlottesville, VA
IPA
6.1% ABV50 IBU
40 Mile is our flagship IPA and is named after the number of miles Jack Jouett raced to warn Thomas Jefferson and his state legislators that Cornwallis had ordered their capture. Jack Jouett’s ride is legendary in Virginia and put Three Notch’d Road on the map as a central story in the fight for our Country’s independence. Jack left his mark on history, how will you leave yours? This West Coast Style IPA is hopped with an abundance of American hop varieties giving it a tropical, peachy, pineapple flavor with big citrus, grapefruit, tangerine notes in the nose and in the finish. The light, crisp malty body allows the complex hop flavors to stand out, and the subtle bitterness makes this IPA a refreshing, easy drinking, delicious beer.

Irish Red Ale
5.3% ABV22 IBU
In 1828, the University of Virginia created their own fire company made up of students, professors and servants. Their sole fire engine was called the Hydraulion, a pump wagon with the waterpower of 16 men. The UVA Fire Company left their mark for almost 100 years before giving way to the town of Charlottesville’s Fire Department. Our Hydraulion Red is a nod to not only UVA’s firefighters, but the brave men and women everywhere who risk their lives every day, while saving ours. This Irish-Style Red is a perfectly balanced beer with a great caramel sweetness alongside a tangy, citrusy hop profile.

Lip Service New England IPAThree Notch'd
Charlottesville, VA
IPA
6.3% ABV20 IBU
This is a New England IPA designed for the working man after a long day. Less ABV than a typical NEIPA to make it more approachable for everyone, “Lip Service” still provides that super soft mouthfeel and extreme juicy flavor regular NEIPA drinkers have fallen in love with. Brewed with Amarillo and Mosaic hops, this beer delivers a myriad of citrus, melon, and tropical fruit flavors.
Lush-ious Maple Pecan Brown AleThree Notch'd

English Brown Ale
5.7% ABV20 IBU
“Lush-ious” Brown Ale was brewed in collaboration with Lush Cupcakes to celebrate their move into Scott’s Addition. Lush makes delicious, alcohol infused cupcakes and we thought what better than to try and create something similar in beer form. We added maple and pecans to this brown ale, already brewed with slight biscuit and chocolate undertones, to make this one sweet beverage! Make sure to welcome Rachel and everyone else at Lush to the neighborhood!

A braggot is a combination of mead and beer, and we couldn’t think of better people to make this old style with a new flare than the mead masters of Black Heath Meadery. They have been our neighbors in Scott’s Addition for some time and we wanted to celebrate their new expansion with this delicious dessert braggot made with 200 lbs of honey. Don’t worry though, Black Heath is staying in the neighborhood, but they’ll have much more delicious mead coming our way!
Smoke & Mirrors Smoked PorterThree Notch'd
Charlottesville, VA
Smoked Porter
6% ABV20 IBU
“Smoke & Mirrors” is the perfect smoked beer for any beginner in the style. We used Beechwood Smoked Barley from Germany to bring that light smoke sensation, bringing back memories of sitting around a fire on a cold winter’s night. That with equal parts chocolate, dark roast and caramel malts bring a smooth but complex beverage. Goldings hops from the UK give a subtle earthy aroma.
Sticker Slap New England IPAThree Notch'd
Charlottesville, VA
IPA
7.2% ABV22 IBU
Sticker Slap is a collaboration with Crud City, a street-inspired artist in Richmond that designs stickers, posters and apparel, all focused around his unique, grungy style. Our New England IPA is very hop forward with a smooth body from a blend of malted barley and oats. Bitterness is low but a combination of Citra and Simcoe hops provide with bold citrus and tropical fruit characters.
Wit & Wiles White IPAThree Notch'd
Charlottesville, VA
White Ale
5.6% ABV35 IBU
Is it a White IPA or a Hoppy Wit? More American or European? Are those flavors coming from the hops or the juniper berries? It’s up for you to figure out the puzzle that is “Wit & Wiles”! Brewed with old, traditional Belgian Wit techniques but with new world American ingredients, this beer was made to represent the brain-teasing puzzles that our collaborators, Ravenchase Adventures, create. They creates tailor-made adventures perfect for team building, fundraising, and private events.
Worth The Weight Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial StoutThree Notch'd
Charlottesville, VA
Imperial Stout
9.2% ABV30 IBU
“Worth the Weight” is the last brew done by former brewer Stefan McFayden. Brewed as a holiday surprise for all of his loyal followers, this Imperial Stout was aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for over 7 months for all of you to enjoy today. A plethora of dark roasted malts combine with the bourbon for a sweet finish to this heavy beer. This beer was definitely worth the “weight”. [Contains Lactose for Sweetness]

A black ale hopped with first Gold, U.S. Goldings and East Kent Goldings. Dave Warwick and Tim Matthews became friends in Pittsburgh, PA in 2006 when they were both assistant brewers in crosstown brewpubs. Dave, now Brewmaster for Three Notch’d, and Tim, now Brewmaster for Oskar Blues, created “Black and Goldings” as a nod to the beloved city where their friendship and brewing careers began. Their experiences in Pittsburgh have left their mark on Dave and Tim, and now they’re teaming up to leave their own Mark with this delicious collaboration brew!

When the sun sets early, nothing beats a cozy brew enjoyed by a cozy fire – so we put that feeling in a beer! This German sour ale becomes a winter favorite with the addition of the sweet flavors of blackberry. Tartness from kettle-souring with Lactobacillus gives the beer the same dry, crisp quality of those cool evenings. Winter never tasted so good!

Imperial Red Ale

We brewed this one for the fans! Working with David Hunter, the founder of the "Fans of Virginia Craft Breweries" Facebook page, we designed this one of a kind imperial red IPA with Weyerman Caraamber, giving the malt profile a great toffee and caramel sweetness. We then balanced this with some staple American citrus hops - cascade and amarillo - and gave it a West Coast IPA nose with an intense dry-hopping of CTZ we know you'll be a "fan" of this beer!

Give me liberty, or give me death! Our tribute to Patrick Henry, who not only left his mark on Virginia history, but was also one of our most beloved Founding Fathers. Henry led the opposition to the Stamp Act, but he was also central to arguing in a Virginia court against the King's right to veto colonial laws. The Crown's veto was nullified in his efforts and his argument was the first notch in a young Patrick Henry's career. Cheers to the break from the Crown, Patty! Hope you enjoy our English Brown Ale as a tribute! This Northern English Brown Ale is filled with a variety of English malts giving it great caramel, nutty, toffee flavors with a touch of chocolate and even espresso. The English hops offer the perfect balance to the complex malt sweetness, providing an earthy/grassy hop finish.
