40 MileThree Notch'd
Charlottesville, VA
IPA
6.1% ABV50 IBU
40 Mile is our flagship IPA and is named after the number of miles Jack Jouett raced to warn Thomas Jefferson and his state legislators that Cornwallis had ordered their capture. Jack Jouett’s ride is legendary in Virginia and put Three Notch’d Road on the map as a central story in the fight for our Country’s independence. Jack left his mark on history, how will you leave yours? This West Coast Style IPA is hopped with an abundance of American hop varieties giving it a tropical, peachy, pineapple flavor with big citrus, grapefruit, tangerine notes in the nose and in the finish. The light, crisp malty body allows the complex hop flavors to stand out, and the subtle bitterness makes this IPA a refreshing, easy drinking, delicious beer.

“As You Are” was brewed specifically for the Pride Crawl. The theme for the bar crawl was cocktails, and we set out to make a beer as close to a cocktail as possible. We added a lot of pure, organic pineapple and mango fruit purée to this beer. The result will hopefully take you back to sipping handcrafted drinks on a tropical beach. Sit back, relax and enjoy!

After fermentation, it spent several months in bourbon barrels which lent a rich bourbon and oak character.

Nothing says autumn in Virginia like mild days and crisp nights. So we put that feeling in a can. This German sour ale becomes a favorite with the addition of the ancient flavors of pomegranate tartness from kettle-souring with lactobacillus gives the beer the same dry, crisp quality as those brisk nights. Fall never tasted so good!

HydraulionThree Notch'd
Charlottesville, VA
Irish Red Ale
5.3% ABV22 IBU
In 1828, the University of Virginia created their own fire company made up of students, professors and servants. Their sole fire engine was called the Hydraulion, a pump wagon with the waterpower of 16 men. The UVA Fire Company left their mark for almost 100 years before giving way to the town of Charlottesville’s Fire Department. Our Hydraulion Red is a nod to not only UVA’s firefighters, but the brave men and women everywhere who risk their lives every day, while saving ours. This Irish-Style Red is a perfectly balanced beer with a great caramel sweetness alongside a tangy, citrusy hop profile.

Our Tollan Rye IPA, inspired by Scotty Lynch, takes its name from the Gaelic word for “Tunnel” and is a nod to the Irish immigrants, known as the Fardowners, that helped dig the first railway tunnels through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Paving the way for the western movement, these men and women definitely left their mark! Each year our brewmaster will hand pick a new hop variety full of citrus and fruity flavors to compliment the earthy/spicy/peppery finish of the rye.
