Mikkeller

The name IBU 1000 refers to the theoretical IBU of this beer. There are physical limits to how much bitterness beer can soak up. For the benefit of those especially interested in the process of brewing we can tell you that 6 kilogram of alpha-acid extract was used of 10 kilograms of simcoe-pellets per 1000 liters beer! This means that easy to drink is only for the hardcore hopheads….

SAY "OH WHAT" IN DANISH. NOT ORVAL – BUT ÅRH HVAD. Color is Cloudy amber and has a white head. The taste is peppery, malty with a hoppy finish.

Recent batch of this has been brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø. Has also been brewed at Gourmetbryggeriet, Denmark. From 2013, brewed at Lervig. English: An oatmeal stout with 25.0% oat-based ingredients and a nice touch of gourmet coffee. A beer that goes extremely well with breakfast. Ingredients : Water, malt (pils, oat, smoked, caramunich, brown, pale chocolate and chocolate), roasted barley, flaked oats, hops (centennial and cascade), ale yeast and gourmet coffee.

India Pale Ale brewed with Ginger and Pine Needles.

It’s Alive!!! Indeed it is. This Belgian Ale has been aged on White Wine barrels to give it that touch of alcohol, while the Brettanomyces give the tartness. Complex but well balanced beer.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle. Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

During Mikkeller’s travels through Belgium, they were inspired by the country’s anti-commercial, independent Trappist breweries. More specifically, the classic Rochefort and Westvleteren monasteries. From these enchanting, traditional, classic breweries Monk’s Brew arose. It is a dark Belgian ale with a dominant yeast character and deliciously malty body. Well-balanced and distinguished, the beer’s characteristic high alcohol content never takes over, and the beer is amazingly smooth and drinkable. Not so amazingly, actually, coming from Mikkeller. Balance is what they do best. Monk’s Brew is no exception. Great paired with prayer and meditation, a classic novel read by a fire, or good conversation with friends.

Belgian ale brewed with raspberries & aged in wine barrels

English: A hybrid between a Red Ale and Wit Bier, added a lot of American hops and bitter tropical orange peel.

Annual Christmas beer release.

Also known as Mikkeller SpontanDoubleElderflower. A hazy golden with a small off white head. Aroma is tart, sour with some citrus. Taste is nicely balanced and not as acidic as other Mikkeller spontan’s. Nice dry ending with the elderflower coming through.

In the spontan series we present Spontan Sea Buckthorn – this time, forming an alliance with Sea Buckthorn that were generously added underway the brewing process, creating a truly unique and distinct, sour beer.

Ale brewed with cherries and aged in wine barrels.

A porter brewed with: water, malt (pale, caracrystal, pale chocolate and chocolate), flaked oats, dark cassanade, hops (centennial and cascade), spices (star anise, cinnamon, clove and coriander seed) and ale yeast. The first Christmas porter from Mikkeller. A light, spiced porter with fine malt background and lovely hop aroma and flavor. The label is designed as a ’To From’ card. Fill in the names and put the bottle under the Christmas tree – the perfect Christmas gift from the lazy man/woman!!

Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.
