With the addition of Madagascar vanilla beans, 4BEANS takes Sixpoint Imperial Porter to the next level. Romano beans used by bygone brewers provide body, as the flavors of dark malt, cocoa and coffee are rounded out by smooth vanilla. The result is a quadrality of roasted, savory, and complex flavors. The Mad Scientists walked through an ancient bazaar, sniffing out ingredients for their next formulation. The stalls were buzzing with activity as exotic spice vendors promoted their fragrant wares. But what ingredient would make the fabled 5th bean? The enticing aroma of an oily, smoky pod – black cardamom – caught their attention. Now that would turn the Imperial to Bazaar...

Belgian Abbey yeast and traditional candi sugar ensure a zealous fermentation, and help create classic dark fruity flavors with a hefty ABV. We’ve never been religious about rigid beer styles, so loads of American hops spice the Big Ale. It’s like a hoppy Belgian Strong Ale with a Sixpoint twist… a modern take on Medieval Mad Science.

Going inside the hop cone to extract its precious content—this is the essence of RESIN. Hop Hash takes this concept to its realized extreme, as pure lupulin collected during pelletization is preserved, then frozen with liquid nitrogen and shattered into the beer during dry-hopping. The result is a chain reaction of hop intensity going off in every sip. Experience pure juice at the ATOMIC level!

Our Autumnal brew is made with subtle pumpkin and spice, but its prominent feature is the fresh harvested "wet-hops" that are added. New hop strain and selection every year. Autumnation 2012 features Citra Hops.

Aged for four months in JD Willet Bourbon barrels, smoke, wood, hops and bourbon.

Beast Mode pours chocolate lab with ruby highlights. The nose is downright beastly - coffee, roast, hops, caramel. The texture is medium bodied with roasted bitterness upfront on the tongue, followed by sweet toffee and malt on the tail end. The beer finishes dry without any lingering bitterness. Lots of bark but it won't bite - just a howler and growler. Keep the fire going, and the ritual. Love your beast... It's Mad Science.

What immortal hand or eye. Could frame thy fearful symmetry? The Sixpoint homebrewed IPA interpretation. Blaze orange in color, with an abundance of citrus hop bitterness, and a full pine and grapefruit bouquet in the aroma.

Created for the Lockn’ Music Festival, Nelson County, VA, 2014. The Lockn’ Load is small batch brew we’ve created in close consultation with the brains behind Lockn’. It’s super slammable, and super tasty. At just 5% ABV with a filtered wheat malt base and some citrus-inflected hops, this one is primed to be gone quick at the festival.

Imagine puffing away on hops for days, then just chillin' as the party starts winding down. But wait, a final burst of energy; one last dose in a tank of dry hops. A special hop bouquet for the afterparty. If you love Resin, try tasting it straight from the tanks. That's PUFF - a hazy, unfiltered pour with an extra dose of dry hops... a new blend devised just for Puff. We decided to capture our own puffy, cloudy brew in a limited release can. No one in their right mind would dispute it being... TOTALLY RADICAL. Sixpoint Rad is a unique blend of fruit juices with ale to create the original summer crusher. The first Sick Liquid form the MAd Scientists’ Laboratory - a refreshing take on what beer can be.

This isn’t a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going ’round this winter. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA — but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

They should be good men; their affairs as righteous: But all hoods make not monks. Beneath a deep blanket of snow there is a cereal grain that can survive the harsh winters and acidic soils - RYE. Like a draped hood over a monk, it is the righteousness inside that shines.

In this realm we call earth, there is a breathtaking country off the SE coast of Australia – known to some as Aotearoa, most of us know it by the name New Zealand. Though there may not be Hobbits as some have come to expect, we have instead located the next hop for our Spice of Life series – Wakatu. New Zealand Hop Farm before the Harvest Our scientists are formulating use of this New Zealand variety as the the sole spice in October’s Spice of Life release. The decision to procure these exotic hops was not for lack of variety and flavor in American hops, but instead to continue to broaden our palates (and hopefully many of yours). Wakatu is internationally recognized as a benchmark dual-purpose (aroma and bittering) hop and is prized for its well-rounded flavor. Originally derived from Hallertau Aroma Hops, Wakatu is a hybrid in every sense of the word, and has been optimized for cultivation in the southern hemisphere. Monks have been experimenting with horticultural cross-genetic permutations for centuries… This of course took place when not brewing beer. We agree that the honed results make for a truly rewarding finish. A fine pour of Wakatu October’s Spice of Life has landed with an ABV of 5.7% and a hop-pleasing IBU of 75. Golden orange in color, the hop flavor is perceived as a sweet mixture of vanilla and pine, says head brewer Pete Dickson. Spice of Life Wakatu is available now at select locations featuring Sixpoint.

The Mad Scientists have turned the Saison into the American Craft "Seison" for their latest release to debut this week in various markets. After several years of formulations we are happy to release a draft only version of our Seison.
