For Terrapin’s 14th year anniversary we thought we would celebrate with a Tart Belgian Red Ale. Brewed with copious amounts of crystal malts for a majestic red color, and fermented with Lactobacillus and a Belgian yeast strain for an acidic and spicy finish, this anniversary ale is one to appreciate all year long.

Help us celebrate American Independence and American Beer Month in July with the release of the Terrapin All-American Imperial Pilsner. This beer was brewed using only American malts, American hops, and American yeast. Who says you have to import ingredients from Germany to make a true Pilsner? Of course, this Pilsner is made “Terrapin Style”. Hence the 75 B.U.’s, the 7.5% alcohol and the term “IMPERIAL Pilsner”.

This mammoth imperial red ale leads with a tantalizing hop aroma that is quickly complemented by an enormous malt backbone. Finishing with a multitude of hoppy goodness, this “Monster Beer” is truly not for the faint at heart.

There will be two editions of Black is the New Wit released. Both versions are essentially the same beer, but with each aged on different wood. New Belgium aged on cedar, Terrapin on sassafras.

Our newest Saison is a blend of fresh summer flavors. The tart sweetness of ripe blueberries combined with the floral warmth of thyme evoke garden memories in this culinary-inspired brew.

A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.

By combining the harmonious flavors of chocolate and peanut butter with the cracker-like saltiness of pretzel flavor, we have created our tastiest Moo-Hoo to date. Dig into our “Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Moo-Hoo” and enjoy the sweet and savory side of life.

Like your favorite breakfast treat and a great cup of coffee, Cinnamon Rolled Wake-n-Bake hits on all cylinders. Starting with a delicious coffee aroma, a touch of Cinnamon gives way to a sugary sweet icing flavor as a buttery nuttiness fills out the last drop of this breakfast in a glass.

Side Project #4 “Dos Cocoas” Chocolate Porter is a little experiment with a traditional porter and two types of cocoa. I used cocoa powder in the whirlpool and then aged the beer for one month on a bed of cocoa nibs. What you will get from this beer is fine chocolate aroma, a unique chocolate bitterness and a tantalizing balanced chocolate flavor from both the cocoa powder and nibs. I also want to point out that this is a collaboration project with Cocoa Atlanta, who supplied us with the cocoa for this experiment.

Krunkles returns in Vol. 20 of our Side Project series… The Doctor is in with a new white farmhouse IPA! Krunkles reaches new heights in complexity and flavor by combining the malt and spices of a Belgian Witbier, the yeast of a Farmhouse Ale, and the hoppy goodness of an American IPA. Dr. Krunkles’ twisted touch is a dash of white peppercorn and wood aging on white ash.

This new hopped up session ale is flavor packed with a low ABV beer. Easy Rider boasts 5 different hop varieties and just one type of malt. Galaxy (from Australia), Bravo, Zythos, Centennial and Amarillo; and Marris Otter malts.

Terrapin Side Project 12 is none other than the fearless Hopzilla Double IPA. This hoptastic creature clocks in at 110 IBUs and has all the hop explosions of a B-rate monster movie. Made with 100% Maris Otter malt to back up the barrage of hop bitterness, flavor and aroma, this beast knows no boundaries. With all of this hoppy goodness packed into one beer, we wouldn’t have called it by any other name.

Krunkles returns with a new IPA from his time spent on the underside of the world. Brewed with hops exclusively from New Zealand and Australia, this "South Pacific IPA" is packed with so much flavor, it might even make a Kiwi say G-Day!

Chocolate peanut butter porter.

Cut off the crust and unwrap the flavor of this fruit centric beer. Hand crafted using real raspberries, “Liquid Lunch” Peanut Butter Jelly Porter combines all the elements of a familiar lunch time snack.

Tropical aromas of Passion fruit, Orange and Guava dominate the nose while a big juicy hop flavor and smooth bitterness complement the balance of the beer.

"Lucille" is an Imperial stout brewed with blackstrap molasses & vanilla then aged on hickory, maple & white ash - woods used to make baseball bats.

2015 Reserve Series. Maggie’s Blackberry Cobbler Imperial Farmhouse Ale is made with fresh blackberries and graham crackers for a taste you won’t soon forget. Reminiscent of the smell in Granny’s kitchen on a Sunday afternoon, this beer is liquid dessert for any home-cooked meal.

Take off your robe and slip into the night to get one step closer to the Holy Grail of all beers. “Midnight Monk” Belgian-Style Black IPA will have your senses juggling all the complex flavor and aroma this beer has to offer.

Step back in time for this holier-than-thou union of two great brewing traditions that are worlds apart. Kudos to Friar Spike and Little John for marrying a classic Belgian Style Tripel and a new age American Double IPA.

An especially bright, hoppy take on Belgian IPA, Monk’s Revenge is another scary member of Terrapin’s Monster Beer Tour series. This particular version was aged in cabernet barrels from North Carolina’s Shelton Vineyards. Righteous.

Like your favorite cup of Café Mocha, Moo-HooChiato “Chocolate Espresso Milk Stout “ puts you in the right state of mind. Take in the aroma of expertly roasted espresso from Jittery Joe’s and let your taste buds melt into the flavor of Olive and Sinclair’s award winning chocolate. Brewed with lactose sugar for a creamy mouth feel and a touch of sweetness, this is a Barista’s wish come true.

Volume 22. Sometimes things get a little weird when there’s a full moon. Floating into "Side Project 22" comes "Moon ray" Chocolate Orange Weizenbock. Our rendition of this traditional style is clearly a hoax with the addition of cocoa nibs and orange peel for a greater depth of flavor. With its big malt presence and hint of banana from the yeast, this beer may just make you hotel at the moon.

Volume 19: Mosaic Single Hopped Rye Ale. Brewer “Spike” has an affinity towards rye malt, so this comes a no surprise. Freshly harvested from Hop Breeding Company, LLC in Yakima Valley, the hops used in Side Project 19 “Mosaic” came freshly picked from the fields of Perrault Farms, to our brewery, and into your glass. Known as hop HBC 369 before official naming in 2011, Mosaic is the daughter of Simcoe (YCR 14) and a Nugget-derived male. To get the best of all worlds from this new Humulus lupus, we used 100% Mosaic throughout the brewing process to utilize all the flavor and aroma that this world-class hop has to offer.

Pulling into Terrapin Beer Co’s station is Pineapple Express, the winner of our first annual Employee Homebrew Challenge. Inspired by a late night grilling session with friends, a couple of chunks of pineapple got thrown into the mix, and an idea for a new beer style was born. The team brewed up a Helles lager for the base brew and used real pineapple and smoked malt to concoct the winning recipe.

Pumpkin beers have been an American tradition since the pilgrims hit Plymouth Rock while Oktoberfest beers have been brewed in Germany since not long after Prince Ludwig got hitched in 1810. Now Terrapin is “carving” out our own special brew by combining these two great styles into a unique PUMPKINFEST beer...This Side Project has all the complex maltiness of a great Oktoberfest lager with the delicate spiciness of grandma’s fresh baked pumpkin pie. Formerly Terrapin Side Project Pumpkinfest.

This year’s beer is a similar dark ale to the one we brewed for Reunion ’11. It’s brewed with cocoa nibs from our friends at Olive and Sinclair in Nashville, vanilla, and this year cinnamon. The flavor begins with complex malt overtones and quickly gives way to the chocolate, cinnamon and vanilla. Inspired by rich mugs of Mexican hot chocolate this is going to be especially good with BBQ, Mole and Churro…maybe from your favorite local food truck?

This year’s beer is a dark ale brewed with cinnamon with vanilla, coffee, and cocoa nibs added. It was inspired by a fantastic dessert we used to share with Virginia at our favorite restaurant. The Brown ale leads with a bold coffee and subtle cinnamon aroma. Complex malt overtones quickly give way to a chocolate, coffee and vanilla mix of satisfying bliss.

Made with 100% Maris Otter to back up the hop bitterness, flavor and aroma, with an added twist, barrel aged in Rum Barrels.

Monster Beer Tour. Rye beers have been a part of our brewing arsenal from day one. “Rye”, “Rye Squared” and now “Rye Cubed” Triple IPA completes this trilogy of brewing excellence.

By using an exact amount of rye, a grain seldom found in other micro brewed beers, the Rye Pale Ale acquires its signature taste. Made with five varieties of hops and a generous amount of specialty malts, it offers a complex flavor and aroma that is both aggressive and well balanced – a rare find among beers. The Terrapin Rye Pale Ale was released in Athens, GA in April of 2002 at the Classic City Brew Fest. Six months later this beer which was sold only in Athens was awarded the American Pale Ale Gold Medal at the 2002 Great American Beer Festival, the most prestigious competition in North America. We hope you will agree with our peers in the brewing industry that this is truly one of the best pale ales in the country.

Terrapin’s Tree Hugger is an altbier using organic ingredients and is a fantastic version of the traditional style. Terrapin has been a supporter of the Dogwood Alliance’s Green Fest for 7 Years, and this year we are excited to contribute a unique beer to event!

This gingerbread cookie inspired beer was artfully crafted by a crack team of Terrapin employees. Since no gingerbread men or women were harmed in the making of this beer, we hope you will enjoy with a clear conscience.

The Terrapin Road Warrior is brewed in honor of the Athens Terrapin Twilight Criterium, a professional bike race held in downtown Athens. Spike mimicked the exact process and ingredients that make a German-style kolsch great. Kolsch is a light-bodied, lightly hopped style that hails from Cologne, Germany. This particular example has a wonderful golden color and clarity, with subtle yet present hop character. Look for it on draft exclusively in the Athens area and at the Terrapin Twilight Criterium!

When you can’t see the smoke through the haze, reach for a beer that cuts right through. Two neighboring breweries in the South, Cigar City Brewing and Terrapin Beer Co., introduce "Vapricot" Apricot Ginger Imperial IPA. Brewed wotth apricot puree and ginger for a sweet and spicy profile, this multidimensional beer will help you see things more clearly.
