Blood Orange Cranberry TartTroegs
Hershey, PA
Gose
4.5% ABV
The classic Madras cocktail was our inspiration for this beer. Lactobacillus fermentation lays down a tart canvas, then a second fermentation with our house ale yeast makes way for the sweet citrus of fresh blood orange and the tangy bite of cranberries. Coriander adds a floral undertone, while a touch of salt helps to amplify the fruit notes and tame the sweetness.

In the 14th century, sailors would rely on sheer skill to get from a starting point to a final destination. they called this Dead Reckoning. We see our beer the same way. We know where to begin and know where to go, but there are hundreds of ways to get there. Unfiltered and aggressively hopped for the style, Dead Reckoning's flavor originates in the chocolate and roasted malts, then follows through with sharp, earthy bitterness and a rich, smooth cocoa mouthfeel.

Long toasty days, cool breezy nights and a splash of magic provide the inspiration for the Tröegs brothers’ dreamiest creation—Dreamweaver Wheat. Combining wheat with Munich and Pilsner malts, German Northern Brewer hops, open top fermentation and a yeast strain that imparts a peppery, clove taste with a slight hint of banana, Dreamweaver Wheat is an unfiltered blast of spicy, mouthwatering joy.

Each spring, hop growers dust off their pruning shears and trim the first shoots, bolstering the bines for a rich growing season. First Cut - a mouthful of silky Simcoe and a touch of mango - is a nod to this ritual, without which the world would be a less hoppy place.

Flying MouflanTroegs
Hershey, PA
Barleywine
9.3% ABV
The Flying Mouflan was #4 in the "Scratch Beer Series" begun by John and Chris Trogner and their brewing staff in 2007, producing one-offs based on recipes the brothers developed in the mid-’90s when they were considering opening a brewpub rather than a production brewery. The medal-win in Denver last October convinced the brothers to make the barleywine-style ale the first beer to come out of the Scratch program and be added to the production roster.

Imperial Stout

As we spiral further toward the end of the Mayan calendar, we at Tröegs felt obligated to brew a special beer to commemorate the expiration of planet Earth. We think it’s a pile of gibberish (just don’t quote us on that, though… you never know)! Either way, celebrate the countdown to extinction and raise a goblet of this colossal Russian Imperial Stout as we plummet into utter oblivion. If your tongue doesn’t disintegrate as a result of the birthday party cheesecake jellybean BOOM, at the very least this beer will wreak major havoc on your taste buds. Yes, ¿Impending Descent? is as enormous, face-melting, and palate-numbing as it sounds. If there ever was a last beer to enjoy before Doomsday, this is it. Here at Tröegs we say, “Bring on the apocalypse!”
JavaHeadTroegs
Hershey, PA
Stout
7.5% ABV
JavaHead Stout, first released as Scratch 15, contains a blend of locally roasted espresso and Kenyan coffee beans by St. Thomas Roasters in Linglestown, PA. This recipe is based off of our original 2005 oatmeal stout. After the boil the hot wort passes through our hopback vessel packed full of whole leaf hops and a bed of coffee beans - akin to a French press - intensifying the coffee nose and releasing hints of coffee flavor. The result is a lush oatmeal mouthfeel balanced with cocoa, roast and subtle coffee flavors.

LollihopTroegs

When we make our annual pilgrimage to the hop-growing hotbed of Yakima Valley, we're like kids in a candy store. We eyeball the hops on the lines, crush them in our hands and rub them til their oil fill the air. LolliHop brings together three of our favorites. Dry-hopping with Citra and Mosaic layers in notes of orange, grapefruit, and melon, while Azacca in the kettle adds hints of papaya and pineapple.

Earlier in May, Tröegs hosted fellow 2012 GABF winners to brew a special collaborative beer for Philly Beer Week to commemorate each brewery’s success at the festival. Brewers Matt Moninger of The Church (Large Brewpub of the Year) and Jason Oliver of Devils Backbone (Small Brewpub of the Year) joined our own Andrew Dickson, Tim Mayhew, and Matt Hobbs to brew a session-strength Black Rye IPA using peppercorns, three varieties of rye malt, and plenty of American hops. Hand-crafted by three decorated breweries with a combined weight of six gold, three silver, and six bronze GABF medals (in 2012 alone!), Scratch #97 has enough precious metal linked to it to make even Michael Phelps tremble in his speedo… or at the very least prompt Mr. T to exclaim, “I pity the fool who don’t try this Scratch Beer!”

Coriander gives off hints of wildflowers, and a pinch of salt amplifies the refreshing sweet-tart berry goodness.
TroegenatorTroegs
Hershey, PA
Doppelbock
8.2% ABV25 IBU
Troegenator Double Bock is a dark, strong lager. It pours into a glass with a bronze to brown color, fluffy white head and bready malt aroma. The Troegenator leaves a rich, warming feeling and subtle spicy flavors. The style, Double Bock, dates back a century or so ago. During periods of fasting without solid foods, the Monastic brewers relied on the Double Bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread," a Double Bock has a strong malt aroma and rich chewy body. In the spirited tradition of naming a Double Bock using the suffix "-ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and nourishment all throughout the year.
