Grisette		Steam Bell Beer Works Midlothian, VA	Ale 5.4% ABV–18 IBU	In old world Belgium, the saison was the beer for the farmers, while the grisette was the beer of the miners. As the story goes, young women known as Grisettes (gris is French for gray, the color of the stone mined in the area) would stand outside outside of the mines at the end of the day with trays of grisette beer for the miners. Steam Bell Beer Works’ attempt at reviving this tradition produced a Grisette that is a light and crisp with hints of spice and pepper. Historically a session beer, the ABV is approximately 5.4% with 18 IBUs. Steam Bell Beer Works’ Grisette is the perfect brew for unwinding after a long hard day.

Most breweries it seems are in a competition with themselves to see how bitter they can make them. Steam Bell's take on this style is a very dry base beer, low in bitterness but packed with tasty hop flavor and aroma.

This one reminds us of a deliciously refreshing (grown up) milkshake which is where it gets it's name. As legend has it, our 1st President loved ice cream so much that he spent a whopping $200 on this vice during the summer of 1790.
